Getting a like-for-like comparison
Check that each site shows the same car class (for example “compact” or “intermediate SUV”), the same pick-up location and the same times. Then compare the final total, including taxes and fees, and the insurance excess, fuel policy and mileage limit. A slightly higher price with a lower excess or a free cancellation policy can be the better deal.
Brokers and rental brands that don’t accept pre-filled searches open on their own search page, where you just type your trip again.
Tips that often save money
- Try a local depot as well as the airport: airport locations often add fees.
- Shift your pick-up or drop-off time: rentals are usually priced in 24-hour periods, so returning an hour late can add a whole day.
- Log in to brand loyalty programmes: several show member rates or skip-the-counter pick-up.
- Book a free-cancellation rate early and check again nearer the date.
